Terms and conditions of the counselling service

As an accredited member of the IAHIP I am working to the highest professional standards, guided by the Code of Ethics of the IAHIP.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is the cornerstone of all Psychotherapeutic services. It provides the safety for the client to be able to speak freely and a necessity to build trust. There are a few circumstances in which confidentiality is limited by law: where there are child protection concerns, when the client or those around him/her are at physical risk, when there is criminal activity involved or when written permission has been given by the client.  If this should be the case or may arise during the course of therapy your therapist will explain and discuss with you any further action.

Supervision

It is common practice and a requirement by the Code of Ethics for all Counsellors and Psychotherapists to attend supervision at regular intervals. Its purpose is to support the Therapist in his/her work. At no time will s/he give details about the client that might identify the client to the Supervisor.

Any request for confidential client information cannot be made available without the expressed approval of the client.

Appointments / Cancellations

  • A minimum of 24-hour are required for cancellations and should be made via a voice call.
  • For all other forms of cancellations (voice mail, SMS or email) 36 hours should be allowed.
  • Cancelled sessions within the 24-hour period or not attended sessions must be paid for in full.
  • If technical issues arise for the client during a phone or online session and the session becomes non-viable, it can be rescheduled free of charge for the first occurance (total service period).
  • Any costs arising from remote meetings (online sessions or phone) are fully the responsibility of the client.
